Job summary
The post holder will support the implementation of the NHS cancer plan and NHS cancer reform strategy through providing dedicated administrative support to multidisciplinary teams working together to provide high quality care for patients with cancer.
The post also encompasses a patient tracking role to ensure that all suspected and diagnosed cancer patients are investigated and treated in a timely fashion. There is particular focus on managing each stage in the patient's journey with particular reference to the national minimum dataset for cancer.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for managing the collation and monitoring for all cancer patients' pathways for submission to the National Cancer Waiting Times database for specific cancer patients diagnosed at HUH and ensuring all appropriate actions are taken to meet the National Cancer Waiting Times targets.
The post holder will support the MDT coordinators in the preparation of weekly multi-disciplinary meetings (MDMS) as required. This post will have a primary focus on supporting the Head and Neck Pathway and Cancer MDT Coordinator to improve performance in our Faster Diagnosis standard.
Responsibilities may include supporting that:- MDM outcomes are appropriately recorded on EPR and on Somerset Cancer Register (cancer patient database used at the Trust) immediately at MDM (live recording) or immediately after MDM.- the relevant imaging is reported and available on the PACS system and available for the meeting.- all required medical notes and imaging are available for the meeting.
