Job summary
We are looking to recruit highly motivated and enthusiastic specialist Clinical Coder to join our Trust, The role of the Senior Clinical Coder is to provide a timely, accurate and effective coding service to the Trust.
The post holder will be required to abstract, analyse and accurately code all clinical information from a patients electronic health records so that the correct information can lead to the correct HRG, Health Resource Group. You will be coding all specialties across the Trust using ICD -10 and OPCS -4 classifications in accordance with National Standard and the Trust's Policy & Procedure guidelines.
The role requires the successful candidate to produce coding technical support to the SLA, Divisions, Information/IT and Finance and all other areas. You will need to be consistent, accurate, & complete in all data for use by all departments in the Trust. You should have a least 4 years coding experience in an acute Trust and be an Accredited Clinical Coder
Main duties of the job
- Must have taken the National Clinical Coding Qualification and achieved Accredit Clinical Coding status ACC
- To complete timely and accurate clinical coding for all deadlines on all patients by the 12th of every month
- To accurately code information to support the correct Health Resource Groups, HRGs
- Ensure all data is coded onto 3M Medicode software & Cerner
- Act as a mentor and assist in the mentoring of less experienced coders coders
- Ensure that divisional/speciality coded data is regularly validated byclinicians so that the highest accuracy is achieved for mandatoryinformation and payment flows
- You will be actively involved in meeting with clinicians and businessmanagers to clarify coding issues that directly effects data quality and the trusts finances
- Work efficiently as both an individual and as part of a team
