Job summary

We are seeking to appoint a Christian Health Care Chaplain to work ecumenically within the Trust.

This a part time post 26.5 hours per week.

Our multi-faith Chaplaincy Team includes both paid and volunteer staff who all work together to provide round the clock care to meet the spiritual and religious needs of patients, staff and visitors. The team is committed to supporting people of all faiths and none, and seeks at all times to embody our Trust values - Personal, Safe, Respectful, Responsibility and inclusive.

Main duties of the job

You will need to demonstrate that you can:

  • Provide guidance to staff on how to meet the various traditions and practices associated with their patients' religious and cultural beliefs.
  • Ensure the provision of support and advice to staff to enable them to respond to the spiritual needs of their patients within a therapeutic caring relationship.
  • To be available to provide spiritual support and guidance across the organisation at all levels.
  • Ensure the provision of caring and compassionate support to staff as needed.
  • apply an understanding of the bereavement process in working sensitively with the wide ranging spiritual and religious needs and concerns of patients', carers and staff facing life changing events.
  • respond in a pastorally sensitive way to the varied complex situations of a maternity unit including the willingness to conduct appropriate services of baptism, blessing and dedication of babies.
