This is a unique opportunity to join our new neuropsychology rotation and gain valuable skills across acute and specialist inpatient and community neuropsychology settings. The Homerton Neuropsychology rotation provides a qualified clinical psychology service to the Regional Neurological Rehabilitation Unit (RNRU), Graham Stroke Unit (GSU) and RNRU Outreach team (please see description of each team in the Job Description). The post holder will work as a fully integrated member of the MDT and benefit from close working and specialist supervision from the Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist and/or Principal Clinical Psychologist/Clinical Lead for RNRU Outreach.
You will be part of our well established, consultant-led neuropsychology service. Homerton Neuropsychology has a strong holistic ethos and many of the services we work into have adopted a biopsychosocial formulation led approach.The Trust is keen to develop and nurture high calibre neuropsychologists and you will be able to access QiCN supervision, funding, specialistneuro CPD as well as service development, research and leadership opportunities.
The post would suit a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist looking to progress to an 8a position. We also welcome applications from newly qualified Psychologists looking to develop their skills via a preceptorship programme. We particularly welcome applications from candidates from minority ethnic backgrounds to improve our representation of the communities that we serve.
Main duties of the job
- Provide a specialist neuropsychology service for patients on RNRU / GSU / RNRU Outreach including assessment, intervention, risk management and referral on to other mental health services as appropriate to need.
- Provide highly specialist psychological supervision for junior psychology staff working in neuro-rehabilitation services.
- Provide specialist psychological training, supervision, guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to the formulation and treatment of individual patients.
- Develop effective links and referral pathways with primary and secondary care teams providing care for patients, including arrangements for communication and joint working.
- Maintain electronic systems for referrals, appointments, activity and outcome monitoring for performance management, including continuous audit and evaluation of service.
- Contribute to the operation of practice group teams within the service, consisting of other qualified psychologists as well as psychology assistants and associates.
- Develop the provision of psychological services within the multi-disciplinary teams where based, including maintaining good working relationships with other clinical staff.
- Support the Principal and Consultant Neuropsychologists to lead on local and Trust-level training and policy writing with respect to Mental Capacity Act, Best Interest Meetings, and Deprivation of Liberty in the acute and community settings.

The RNRU is a 27-bed tertiary, level 1 tertiary neurorehabilitation unit.
