Job summary

Homerton Sexual Health Services seek to appoint a Clinical Fellow in Sexual Health. Our service is provided across the main site at the Homerton Hospital and three satellite sites in City and Hackney. We provide a wide range of sexual health and contraception services for a diverse population in a vibrant part of London.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for clinical care of outpatients attending the department. This involves the equivalent of 9 sexual health clinics and 1 CPD session per week. In sexual health clinics, care will involve obtaining medical and sexual histories, clinical examination, investigations, treatment and health education. The post holder may also be expected to take responsibility for the management of patients presenting for post- and pre-exposure prophylaxis for HIV.

A number of specialist clinics are held within the department including HIV clinics, psychology services, LARC and complex contraception clinics. The post holder will be expected to refer patients appropriately to these specialist clinics and may utilise their induction training to familiarise themselves with these clinics.

A number of research projects are undertaken by the department and the post holder may have an opportunity to contribute to these projects.

Three of the clinics are held in the evening from 4.30 - 8.00 p.m. each week at the Department of Sexual Health, and the post holder will be needed to work in the evening clinic within their overall contracted hours of duty.
