Job summary

  • The post holder will be an integral part of a small team that provides Improvement support to the improvement programmes and projects within the Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and our programme partners.
  • The post holder will be key to the design, development, deployment and management of data measurement design, analysis and evaluation of a range of internal and external improvement programmes/projects.
  • As an Advisor specialising in Data for Improvement, the post holder will be a technical specialist, and hold excellent consultation skills.
  • They will work with key colleagues across organisational boundaries, addressing significant challenges and work towards ambitious visions - to provide robust, start-to-end evaluation of improvements using the very best analytical methods and data visualisation.

It's a permanent part time, 22.5 hrs/week, role.

Main duties of the job

Provide analytical support to the Trust, the Improvement Team, and associated partner organisations, including:

  • Being able to understand and structure the problem or query;
  • Using creative data manipulation of routine data sources to support problem identification and provide situational analysis;
  • Development of bespoke data collection tools;
  • Establishing improvement measures at outset of a project and means of monitoring through the course of the project;
  • Working closely with several programme leads and managers as an analytical partner with responsibility for establishing and maintaining measurement strategies for those programmes;
  • Working independently to enable local improvement teams and projects to use data confidently and appropriately by providing training and mentoring.

  • Experience of communicating complex information to a non-technical audience. Understanding of improvement methodology - specifically data and measurement including statistical process control.   • Advanced IT skills with experience of using Microsoft Office applications - and particularly advanced MS Excel knowledge.   • Computer simulation such as Vensim, Simul8 or R for service or process improvement. Monitoring progress including use of dashboard software such as Qliksense, Tableau or Power BI.
