Job summary

We are looking for a highly motivated Diabetes Nurse Specialist, who is passionate about diabetes ready to make a major contribution to the care of patients with diabetes.

The post holder will be responsible, as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team, delivering specialist inpatient nursing care to patients with diabetes,. The post holder will ensure that patients receive the necessary care and treatment to enable progress along the agreed pathways of care. This will be achieved through the application of specialist knowledge, skills and practice.

Main duties of the job

You will be a registered nurse with a post registration nursing course in Diabetes with experience as a diabetes nurse specialist and extensive knowledge of diabetes experience gained from relevant post basic study.

You should have proven management and leadership skills as well as the ability to demonstrate initiative and innovation, effective communication skills and the ability to organise your own caseload.

You will also be able to demonstrate effective teaching and presentation skills as you will be responsible for providing education and support to primary care teams. You will also be required to provide clinical care to a caseload of patients with diabetes.
