Job summary
We are looking for a Band 8a Advanced Practice Physiotherapist (Extended Scope Physiotherapist) to join our Physiotherapy team in a comprehensive and award-winning musculoskeletal NHS service.
The Locomotor service is an integral provider within the borough of City & Hackney, bridging the management of MSK pathology across primary and secondary care. We have direct referral pathways from a large network of GPs and work closely in optimising these care pathways. We are integrated with the North East London secondary care specialities of spinal, rheumatology and orthopaedics.
You will be responsible for managing a complex caseload with the integration of advanced clinical reasoning and extended scope skills. We have a well-established Advanced Practitioner MSK team, who utilise, as well as teach, in areas of injection therapy, prescribing, ultrasound imaging and ultrasound guided injections. The APP clinicians utilise peer sessions, multidisciplinary meetings (orthopaedics, rheumatology, spinal surgery), as well as structured teaching for clinical discussion and development.
We place a strong emphasis on staff support and development. You will have regular supervision from a clinical and managerial perspective and opportunities to develop across the pillars of advanced practice.
Main duties of the job
You will play a key role in supporting and mentoring Locomotor Physiotherapy staff.
The role will also include quality improvement work to optimise service delivery and patient care across our service. We are a proactive department in driving these areas forwards and have a well-established Quality Improvement Team that supports this invaluable aspect of our work. This role would suit a professional with motivation, flexibility and organisation skills to contribute and be responsive to development of the service in an evolving, diverse MSK landscape.
The post holder would be predominantly based at St Leonard's, but will also work at other community sites within Homerton University Hospital NHS trust and GP practices in City and Hackney, as dictated by the needs of the service.
