Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing dynamic team, we are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist with experience of working with children and young people in a community setting.

This Band 7 permanent post is working within the specialism supporting young people of Transition age with preparation for adulthood. This post will lead service development in the area of preparation for adulthood, supporting others in the team and leading on this specialist area. You will work as part of a fully integrated children's OT team, with a mixed community caseload. This is a great development opportunity for an experienced children's OT to join a fully integrated role, taking a lead on the preparation for adulthood within the service, whilst also having the opportunity to develop their highly specialist skills in other community paediatric areas.

Main duties of the job

The Ark is a purpose built Child Development Centre and services work closely together to offer a joined up service to families. The service sees children with complex physical disabilities, autism, sensory processing difficulties, co-ordination difficulties and other conditions which affect the child's function and occupational performance.

For this post we are looking for someone with skills and experience in working with children with disabilities including some experience of specialist equipment and housing adaptations. You will be keen to work with us and other services in further developing an effective and responsive service for children with disabilities in order to enable children and young people to reach their potential.

We have evidence based clinical pathways and offer intervention in one to one sessions, group sessions and also training to families and other professionals.

As a band 7 you will also provide supervision and joint sessions to other OTs within the team. The band 7s and 8s within the team also meet regularly to enable service development.

We offer regular supervision as well as in house and external training and CPD opportunities.
