Job summary
The Regional Neurological Rehabilitation Unit (RNRU) and Graham Stroke Unit (GSU) are delighted to advertise the opportunity for a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to join our Specialist Neuropsychology Service. RNRU is a 27 bedded regional (Level 1) neuro rehabilitation unit and GSU is a 24 bed acute stroke ward, both based at Homerton Hospital. For both services, the MDT encompasses Dietitians, Nurses, Medics, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Therapy Assistants and Speech and Language Therapists who work closely together and strive to deliver gold-standard rehabilitation. We perform highly in the national stroke audit (SSNAP) and take a proactive approach to evidence based, patient-led quality improvement within our service.
HUHFT has neuropsychology staff working in multidisciplinary teams across the whole neurorehabilitation pathway from the acute stroke unit to Level 2b transitional neurorehabilitation units, and on to community services. We are a supportive team who join together for monthly peer supervision and CPD opportunities.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work alongside an experienced and friendly multi-disciplinary team and will be responsible for delivering neuropsychological and psychological assessment, consultation, formulation, and treatment. They will offer advice and consultation on patients' psychological and neurorehabilitation care to colleagues from other disciplines and to other non-professional carers. They will work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures.
