The purpose of this post is to take a leading role in the management all research studies undertaken at Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Hospital.
In this role you will be a member of a Research Nurse under the Research and Innovations Team at Homerton NHS University Foundation Trust. You will be working as a Band 6.
As a Clinical Research Nurse you will be responsible for assessing and managing the care pathways for patients and carers participating in research. The post holder will be responsible for the set-up, maintenance, and close down clinical trials in accordance with local, national and international legislation.
You will lead studies to assess patients' suitability, ensuring informed consent is obtained; co-ordinate the logistics for patient visits and undertake patient assessments in accordance with study protocol. All data to be recorded, including adverse and serious adverse events, in accordance with ICH-GCP and local national and international legislation.
Whilst the post holder will be allocated in the first instance to work within a specific research team and clinical environment, they will be expected to work in an alternative research team/ clinical environment to meet the needs of studies being conducted throughout Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be working for the R&I Directorate based at Homerton Healthcare and focus primarily on trials within the General Medical Departments but may also be asked to support other areas of research if required.
This is an exciting opportunity for NMC Registered Nurses with experience in Women's Health and Sexual Health to participate in a broad based research programmed (including both qualitative and quantitative studies) and in health research studies. You will be responsible for coordinating and supporting commercial academic and NIHR supported studies. You will need to be adaptable, confident and able to prioritise a combination of diverse demands on your time and able to work autonomously.
As a Registered NMC Nurse will be mentored by the lead research nurse through a well-designed induction programme with support and training in all areas of research governance. You will have the opportunity to develop as an independent Research Nurse working with all members of the multidisciplinary team of clinical and research staff.
You will be experienced in working in clinical trials and be an excellent organiser, you will have a meticulous approach, ensuring that all aspects of research protocols are adhered to, monitoring and reporting events, whilst maintaining confidentiality at all times. This will be combined with a sensitive and empathetic approach allowing you to act as a support for patients and relatives.
