Junior Clinical Fellow in Critical Care and Anaesthetics

Job summary

This position is suitable for candidates who may wish to pursue a career in intensive care and/or anaesthetics, and who might wish to sample the specialty or to gain experience in order to strengthen their application to a Core Training rotation. Alternatively, they might suit candidates who wish to pursue a complementary specialty in which critical care and/or anaesthetics experience is required. Previous experience in the speciality is not required.

These positions will be treated in the same manner as our CT1 positions.

The clinical supervision of the Locally Employed Doctors is shared between all Consultants. Your clinical time will be split between intensive care and anaesthetics sessions.

The supervision of the Locally Employed Doctors is shared between all Consultants. Your clinical time will be split between intensive care (including on-call and standard days) and anaesthetics sessions, under the supervision of a Senior Anaesthetist/Intensivist.

Essential

  • GMC Registration
  • MBBS, MB ChB or equivalent
  • Basic Life Support
  • Commitment to Continuing Medical Education and Audit and studying for further examinations

Desirable

  • ALS/APLS/PALS/ATLS
  • Awareness of Research methods and Participation in Research Projects/Publications

Experience

Essential

  • Successful completion of foundation programme posts by the date of commencement of the post
  • Proficient in History Taking and Physical Examination
  • Ability to Evaluate Evidence including: Assessment for Investigation, Interpretation Skills, and Management of common medical problems
  • Venepuncture and Intravenous lines
  • Manual Dexterity to enable placement of cannula, ET Tubes etc

Desirable

  • Previous experience in critical care and/ or anaesthetics
