Job summary

The post holder will practice as a trainee surgical care practitioner (TSCP) under direct or indirect supervision of the Consultant Surgeon in the direct delivery of high-quality care making critical clinical decisions based on advanced clinical skills assessment. This will encompass working effectively across the four pillars of advanced practice as set out by NHSE formerly health education England.

The post holder will be able to evidence all four pillars of the advanced clinical practice framework and benchmark to the agreed scopes of practices and competencies within the field of surgery clinical area, ICS guidance and local/national targets/frameworks.

The post holder will assist in clinical leadership and support within the multi-professional team, developing the service with the aim to improve the patient outcomes, while providing support, education and which utilises their training experience, to support the department's clinical activity.

The post holder will provide consistent, high quality clinical care, support the trust's management teams with on-going feedback, and support regarding the service, and assist with effective patient flow through the trust.

Main duties of the job

Under direct/indirect supervisionmanage the complete clinical care for patients within the surgical speciality to enhance patient care and improve patient flow, in line with local, regional and national standards

Provide surgical assistance as and when required

Under direct/indirect supervision undertake comprehensive physical and other assessments (such as mental health), analysing differential diagnoses and decide on the appropriate treatment based on clinical findings for patients with complex multi-dimensional clinical conditions

Support the senior clinical leadership team and other staff within the area of responsibility that will ensure they are provided with the relevant clinical advice, guidance and support to undertake their duties
