Job summary
The Dermatology department at Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a consultant dermatologist on the specialist register to support with outpatient clinics across three sites within the Trust (Harlow, Epping and Bishops Stortford).
Outpatient review and advice constitutes the majority of the workload. There are no designated inpatient Rheumatology beds, however specialist advice is given on inpatients when requested.
This is an exciting time to joining team dermatology at PAHT as we undergo significant service redesign to create symbiotic and holistic patient pathways with our community partners such as community dermatology.

The Trust Supports the requirements for Continuing Medical Education as laid down by the Royal College of Physicians and is committed to providing time and financial support for these activities.
The post-holder (especially newly appointed consultants or speciality doctors), will have access to mentoring as they commence the post.
The post-holder will work under the direction of the Clinical Lead and Divisional Director. The specialist doctor will be responsible for continued professional development and take part in continuing medical education activities, in line with the requirements of the appropriate Royal Collegeguidelines to maintain standards of performance. They will participate in an annual appraisal and maintain a personal development plan agreed at this appraisal. The trust is committed to provide support for revalidation.
The main duties are the diagnosis, management and treatment of patients with a dermatological skin condition.

The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust provides a full range of general acute, outpatient and diagnostic services at The Princess Alexandra Hospital Harlow, the Herts and Essex Hospital in Bishops Stortford and St Margaret's Hospital in Epping.
We employ over 4,000 people and serve a local population of around 350,000 people living in West Essex and East Hertfordshire, centred on the M11 corridor and towns of Harlow, Bishops Stortford and Epping. The Dermatology team provides a dedicated service to our patients. This includes all aspects of treatment and relevant management duties for proper functioning of the department.
1. Monday AM MDT meeting joint with Radiotherapy and Oral and Max Fax to discuss patients on the cancer pathway.
2. Understand and work towards the guidelines for patients on the cancer 62 day pathway, RTT pathway, monitoring of High risk drug patients, PIFU pathway
3. Contribute to continuing medical education and clinical governance initiatives.
4.Conducting all activities within the contracted level of service and operating plan for Dermatology services.
5. Working in conjunction with clinical and professional colleagues to ensure that the productivity of staff within the specialty is maintained and job satisfaction is enhanced.
6. - Participation in departmental management meetings.
7. Awareness of and compliance with all Trust infection prevention and control policies, to include hand hygiene, personal hygiene, environmental and food hygiene. Undertaking annual training/updates in infection prevention and control.
8.Accountabililty for implementation of the Code of practice within the department/area of responsibility.
9.- General duty of care for the health and safety and well-being of yourself, work colleagues, visitors and patients within the hospital in additional to any specific risk management or clinical governance accountabilities associated with this post.
Subject to the provision of the Terms and Conditions of Service, you are expected to observe the Trust's agreed policies and procedures, drawn up in consultation with the profession on clinical matters, and to follow the standing orders and financial instructions of the Trust. You must ensure that there are adequate arrangements for hospital staff involved in the care of your patients to be able to contact you when necessary.
