Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced Senior Pharmacist to help us implement the Digital transformation of patient care across our Trust.

We are looking for a Senior Pharmacist who is interested in ensuring that all healthcare professionals enhance clinical medication safety practices by implementing and maturing digital IT solutions to its maximum effect.

You will be responsible for the maintenance and optimisation of the Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Management (EPMA) system and the ChemoCare system.

You will also be involved in upgrades of the electronic prescribing systems which will include, training, floor walking and supporting end -users.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide front-line user support in-hours for the ePrescribing systems
  • To participate in the EPMA on-call rota to provide out-of-hours support for the EPMA system
  • To provide leadership to and support the lead EPMA Pharmacist in the management of the EPMA Team
  • To manage the EPMA Team eRoster
  • To offer their knowledge and expertise as a pharmacist during the build and validation of single drugs and treatment protocols on the ePrescribing systems
  • To develop and lead staff training required for ePrescribing systems
  • To user acceptance test functionality of software upgrades of the ePrescribing systems
  • To monitor and investigate ePrescribing related incidents
  • To design, coordinate and undertake clinical audits involving the ePrescribing systems
  • To update and maintain ePrescribing related standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ePrescribing content in the medicines policies
  • To investigate errors and incidents providing feedback as appropriate and to adjust the ePrescribing systems or training where necessary
  • To update and maintain the issues, risk and incident logs for ePrescribing systems
  • To measure and record qualitative and quantitative benefits
  • To maintain knowledge and communicate any changes in national policy data quality and data protection requirements to enable the development of appropriate systems
  • To deputise for the EPMA lead pharmacist as required

  • Registered Pharmacist with GPhC
  • Diploma or relevant experience
  • Relevant clinical and leadership experience
