Repair and maintenance of medical equipment within the Trust / support of clinical staff
In the use of medical equipment, ensuring service levels are maintained. The use of
comprehensive IT is a large part of this post as is participating in the running and
monitoring of the medical equipment library, working in accordance with Quality
Management System ISO 9001:2011.
The primary purpose of an EBME engineer is to manage, maintain, and repair medical equipment to ensure its functionality and compliance with safety standards in healthcare settings. They play a crucial role in optimising the performance and reliability of medical devices, ranging from diagnostic equipment to life support systems. They utilise IT to manage equipment databases, perform diagnostics, and implement software updates, contributing to the overall efficiency and accuracy of medical device operations.
Main duties of the job
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented EBME Engineer to join our dynamic team. As an EBME Engineer, you will be responsible for the maintenance, calibration, and repair of a wide range of electrical and biomedical equipment used in medical settings. Your role will involve ensuring that medical devices comply with industry standards, troubleshooting technical issues, and collaborating with various departments to improve equipment performance. The ideal candidate should possess strong technical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and reliability in medical equipment.

Experience of providing front line customer service
Knowledge and understanding of the risks to patients and staff arising from the use of a range of medical equipment
Electronic engineering skills including the use of test & measuring equipment, handling and assembly of components and boards, fault finding and diagnosis, use of technical manuals and circuit diagrams
Mechanical engineering skills including use of test and measuring equipment, assembly and bonding of components, use of technical manuals and drawings
Ability to use MS Windows and Office (Excel, Word, Outlook etc); to manage files and set up documents and spreadsheets
Ability to use a computerised equipment management database system
Good organisational, prioritisation and time management skills to manage own work area and work load
Good written and verbal communication skills
