This post, reporting to the Associate Director of OD and Learning, will work with stakeholders internally and externally to identify and implement changes to make a real difference to the lived experiences of our workforce and help achieve our strategic objectives.

The role is based at our offices in Kao Park, Harlow, and the successful applicant will join a diverse, professional and welcoming team. You will enjoy hybrid working and will need to be flexible about working onsite based on the needs of the role.

Main duties of the job

Job summary

Working with director of people and associate director of organisational development and learning, the head of equality, diversity & inclusion (EDI) will develop the EDI implementation plan to support the Trust's commitment to be naturally inclusive and promote equality of opportunity and diversity for all staff members.

You will be the subject matter expert and provide specialist guidance and information to the Trust Board, People team, managers, staff side colleagues, internal networks and staff on diversity and inclusion issues across the Trust.

You will lead the implementation of the Trust's EDI strategic objectives. This includes stakeholder engagement, definition, and delivery of the implementation plan, developing a suite of metrics to monitor progress, and evaluation of the interventions.

You will lead on reporting and improving the Trust's position on the Gender Pay Gap, the Ethnicity Pay Gap, the Workforce Race Equality Standard (WRES) and Workforce Disability Equality Standard (WDES) and present reports and information to our ICS partners, the Board and Board Sub-committees, showing the impact of change and on progress against EDI programmes.

The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT) provides a full range of general acute, outpatient and diagnostic services at The Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow, the Herts and Essex Hospital in Bishop's Stortford, and St Margaret's Hospital in Epping.

We employ 3,500 staff and serve a local population of around 350,000 people living in west Essex and east Hertfordshire, centred on the M11 corridor and the towns of Harlow, Bishop's Stortford and Epping. Our extended catchment area incorporates a population of up to 500,000 and includes the areas of Hoddesdon, Cheshunt and Broxbourne in Hertfordshire.
