Job summary
The Cardiac Catheter Lab are seeking to appoint a Staff Nurse on a full-time, permanent basis. You will plan, provide and maintain effective nursing care to patients and their relatives, and will continuously develop and enhance knowledge and skill that will directly influence consistent standards of clinical practice.
Working within a multi-disciplinary team, you will also support the development of student nurses and junior staff, creating an atmosphere conducive to learning and practise development.
Main duties of the job
- Pre assessment of patients for cath lab procedures
- Admission and preparation of patients for cath lab procedures
- Theatre scrub and circulating responsibilities for cath lab procedures including angiography, pacing, internal loop recorders ,cardioversion and transoesophageal echocardiography.
- Assisting with angioplasty for bail out procedures
- Care to ensure safe recovery and discharge after cath lab procedures
- Working effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
- Ordering and champion responsibilities

- Deliver effective nursing care to patients admitted to the unit
- Be a patient advocate at all times
- Communicate effectively with patients, visitors and the multi-diciplinary team to ensure information is shared in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Seek supervision to ensure that personal clinical practice is continuously developing.
- Participate in appropriate training to ensure safe competent clinical practice.
- Ensure that all documentation is comprehensively completed in accordance with the NMC guidance/Trust policies and procedures
- To be an effective role model at all times
- Act at all times in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
- Co-ordinate and facilitate patient transfer and treatment to other cardiac centre/within the trust.
- Participate in the development of operational processes that will ensure timely and appropriate admission and discharge of patients.
- Ensure a high standard of nursing care.
- Regularly take a lead role in the management of a clinical shift.
- Work towards the development of skills that will contribute to an ethos of nurse led services.
- Participate in the Trust appraisal process to ensure that you receive and give constructive feedback
- Enhance personal skill set and promote professional development of nursing within the Trust.
- Participate in audit and research when required.
- Act as supervisor/mentor to junior members of staff and students.
- Ensure adequate clinical supplies.
