Job summary

An entry-level opportunity is available within the Radiology department for a Clerical Officer to join the team. You will provide administrative support to the department covering all sites across the Trust, as well as reception cover at our reception desk.

As the face of the department you will meet, greet and direct service users, registering attendances on the CRIS system and cover incoming/outgoing telephone calls. You will also maintain and update relevant databases as well as the transfer of clinical images.

Main duties of the job

Working on radiology reception desks and undertaking reception duties including:

  • Covering receptions desks at PAH, Harlow, HEH, Bishops Stortford and SMH, Epping. Any 7.5 shift between 08:00 and 20:00 Monday to Sunday.
  • Receiving patients and visitors on arrival to the department.
  • Attending patient for GP x-ray examinations and booked appointments on CRIS.
  • Receiving orders from electronic requesting system and dealing with them as per protocol.
  • Answering the telephone and dealing with enquiries or directing to relevant person.
  • Being the first line of contact for patients' complaints.
  • Dealing sympathetically with patients who may be unwell, unhappy or distressed.
  • Responsibility for updating and inputting of data onto computer systems (such as CRIS, Note Tracking and COSMIC) ensuring confidentiality and data protection protocols are adhered to and that information is up to date and correct.
  • Assisting Radiology Nursing Administration Co-Ordinator with the retrieval of patient notes which are required to perform interventional procedures within the department. Retrieving patient notes as and when directed by the Radiologists for various purposes.
  • Retrieving patient notes for audit purposes as directed by Radiology Management.
  • Updating Note Tracking System ensuring notes are correctly tracked in and out of the Radiology Department.
  • Using Trust PCs and other IT devices in an appropriate manner.
