Job summary
An opportunity is available in the Outpatients team at the Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust, who would like to recruit a Sister/Charge Nurse.
You will provide nursing care for patients, act as mentor for student nurses, qualified nursing staff and healthcare support workers, and support the Outpatient Nurse Manager in the professional development of staff within the department and implement innovative practice.
To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrable experience, enthusiasm and motivation to provide leadership to the Outpatient team.
You will be actively supported in your personal development and progression by the Outpatient Nurse Manager.
Main duties of the job
You will assist the Outpatient Nurse Manager in the daily running of outpatients clinics, liaising regularly to review clinic capacity and staffing levels. You will also support the ONM in the provision of an effective outpatients nursing service, based on up-to-date research practices, ensuring sensitivity to patients' needs.
This is a permanent position, 30 hours per week, and will include weekend & evening work as we move towards a 7-day provision of service. Aside from PAH, you will also be required to work and cover clinics across the wider Trust, including Herts & Essex in Bishops Stortford and St Margaret's in Epping.

The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust provides outpatients clinics across a number of sites. There are a vast number of specialties that are covered, from paediatrics to elderly care, general surgery, breast, oncology, Oral Maxillofacial & minor dermatological procedures.
This is an exciting time for the outpatients department, as we forge forward with improving the service for our patients and the organization - at the CQC inspection in 2016, the service received an overall rating of "Good".
As a Sister/Charge Nurse in the department, you will support the delivery of services to more than 300,000 patients per year. As an organisation, we have a very active Research & Development team, who support patients attending the clinics for regular follow-up appointments, especially within the Rheumatology, Dermatology, Gastroenterology and Oncology Services. We have also recently opened a purpose-built fracture clinic at PAH.
