Job summary

We are about to embark on one of the biggest transformation programmes our Trust has ever seen. Our Electronic Health Record (EHR) will enhance the work of nearly everyone in the Trust, and also the experience of anyone who access our services receives.

We're looking an Integration and Interface Lead who will be responsible for the design, software development and integration function within the EHR Programme.

You will be responsible for understanding ICT Systems Architecture requirements and acts as a subject matter expert in systems technical architecture, systems strategy, approaches / solutions to integration, interoperability and interfacing within the wider organisation and beyond. The post holder will be technically competent and will demonstrate highly developed technical programming skills.

Main duties of the job

The role is critical in supporting the delivery of the Trust's digital strategy and the strategic priorities in PAHT2030, a new EHR is also critical to our readiness for our new hospital. The role reports to the responsible EHR Programme Manager with whom they will agree their work plan and expected outcomes.

You'll be working across the organisational boundaries, influencing decisions where appropriate, negotiating areas of improvement, seeking agreement and co-operation; but always managing user expectations to ensure that they are aligned to the available resources.

  • The post holder will find opportunities for efficiencies when designing technical solutions to assist the Trust in reducing the total cost of ownership of ICT systems and duplication of data or manual input
  • Design, code, test, build and maintain Trust interfaces. It is expected that the post holder will build, test, install and maintain interfaces on behalf of the Trust using a variety of programming and application development tools
  • Develop and implement solutions for improving the flexibility and efficiency of systems integration, reducing the complexity of information systems in a cost-effective manner, for example by avoiding point-to-point interfaces or capitalising on existing systems through integration initiatives

  • Study of database theory at degree level, study of software engineering at degree level, a degree with a major computing component or equivalent work based experience

  • Masters degree or postgraduate qualification

  • Substantial detailed IT Integration experience at a senior level
  • Development of data exchange interfaces based upon structured interoperability standards such as HL7 and XML
