Job summary
We are looking to recruit 2 MTI's as a joint programme between PAH and the Neonatal department at Royal London Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate to gain experience in 2 different hospitals in UK. The successful candidate will be a senior clinical fellow in Paediatrics and support our tier 2 rota for 18 months and gain additional 6 months of tertiary neonatal experience at Royal London Hospital.
We have been running this programme successfully for a few years and have excellent feedback from previous MTI trainees. It has been immensely useful in gaining experience and acquiring new skills relevant to the future practise of any doctor who wishes to continue a career in Paediatrics. It will enhance professional and personal development along with supporting further career progression.

Main duties of the job
This Specialist Registrar role is the day-to-day management of sick children, infants and neonates helped by the nursing staff and senior house officer under the direct supervision of the Consultant Paediatricians. They will also support the ST1-3 tier trainees of the rota.
The successful applicants will be expected to join the other doctors in covering the middle grade rota for Dolphin ward/ Paediatric A&E, NICU/ Postnatal wards and Out-patient clinics (supervised). This will involve working a mixture of normal days, Long days and nights on a rolling rota basis. They will be responsible to timely patient review and discharge with appropriate senior support. The Department has a very active Audit and Governance program that the successful applicant will be expected to contribute to by undertaking and presenting projects.

Princess Alexandra Hospital is a University hospital affiliated to Queen Mary Medical School in London, previously known as Barts and the London Medical school of medicine and dentistry. As such we have strong links to Undergraduate training and we host/train medical students throughout the academic year. The feedback with receive is excellent and we are continually forging new links in the form of our Consultants taking part in Medical student admission interviews as well as regularly teaching in the medical student conferences organised by undergraduates with an interest in Paediatrics.
