Locum Consultant Anaesthetist - Fixed Term Contract

We are looking to recruit a Locum Consultant Anaesthetist to work in our busy District General Hospital. You will join an enthusiastic and supportive team of anaesthetists and intensivists in the provision of an anaesthetic service in the Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust, Harlow.

Applications are invited for the above 12 months post (extendable/pending substantive appointment) to start as soon as feasible.

If successful, you will be expected to provide a high quality Anaesthesia service, and it is anticipated that you will be actively involved in the training of Anaesthetic and nursing staff, together with medical students in the Trust. You will also play an active part in the new structured modular training programme, for anaesthetics and Intensive Care. The Consultants provide teaching and supervision to Trainee Anaesthetists allocated for Emergency lists.

Main duties of the job

The post is full-time, comprising 10 PAs, and arrangements can be made to the time table to accommodate 11 PAs. Part time applicants will be considered.

The job plan will be agreed upon commencing the post ,every effort will be made to accommodate the interests of the successful candidates

The successful applicant will play an active part in the new structured modular training programme, both for anaesthesia, obstetrics and intensive care. The consultants also provide teaching and supervision to trainee anaesthetists allocated for CEPOD and elective lists.

You must possess full registration with the General Medical Council with a license to practice and it is essential that you are eligible for CCT, CESR or European Community Rights. The post is full-time, comprising 10 programmed activities. Should the successful candidate wish, an additional programmed activity may be offered.
