Job summary

We are seeking to appoint Trust CT3/ST3 level doctors for a fixed 1 Year Appointment in Anaesthetics at the Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust, Harlow. These posts are well suited to an anaesthetic doctor who has completed core training (or equivalent), finding themselves between CT2 and ST3 level.This will give the opportunity to prepare and complete the primary FRCA (if not already completed) and also gain experience to proceed to the next stage of training. The successful applicant would be treated exactly as if in a training post and join our current trainees for in house and regional teaching. The post will be equivalent to a CT3 post (Stage I top up post).

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be required to provide a range of anaesthetic services for patients at PAHT.

The majority of clinical time will be under the supervision of a senior anaesthetist, however, there is some allowance for locally supervised lists as part of the placement. The exact duties will depend on the experience of the successful applicant and the needs of the department and will include attending elective and emergency theatre lists, visiting patients on wards as necessary pre- and post-operatively and otherwise as required, and to carry out duties as decided by the senior anaesthetic staff. It will also include cover of daytime and out-of-hours on-call commitments to maternity services and intensive care.

Multidisciplinary teamwork is envisaged as a key component of the working of this Trust .

Development of a sub-specialty interests that fit in with department needs and the strategic direction of the Division and Trust, is encouraged.
