Job summary
We are seeking to recruit locum Consultant Anaesthetists to join our department at Charing Cross Hospital.
The successful candidate will provide clinical services in anaesthesia, perioperative care, attending theatre and pre-operative assessment clinics as part of a team-based approach for adult patients. An on call commitment exists and is on a 1:15 rota.
Charing Cross Hospital is a busy teaching hospital and regional/national referral centre for several surgical specialties, including neurosurgery, head and neck cancer, airway surgery, plastic surgery, major urology and complex colorectal surgery. In addition we have one of the busiest mechanical thrombectomy services for stroke in the UK.
Applicants should be on the Specialist Register with a CCT (or equivalent) in Anaesthesia, or within 6 months of gaining a CCT.
Main duties of the job
The jobs are paid as 10 PA per week for a whole-time contract - 8.5 DCC and 1.5 SPA.
8.5 PA per week of clinical activities including - pre-operative assessment clinics, elective and emergency theatre work, peri-operative medicine including acute pain management and MDT meetings and on-call activity (0.5 PA).
1.5 PA per week of Supporting Professional Activities - including audit, clinical governance, teaching, research, educational supervision of junior staff and CPD.
On-call will be at the Charing Cross site and is on a 1:15 rota. This is remunerated as 0.5PA with an on call supplement of 3%.

In addition to a broad range of both elective and emergency clinical work, the post-holder will have ample opportunity to be involved in research, teaching and training, governance and leadership opportunities, as well as QI projects.
