Job summary

There is an exciting opportunity to join the dynamic Oncology Team at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, in a substantive role covering neuro-oncology and lung cancer in a growing service in Northwest London. ICHT is the regional cancer centre for an inner North West London population of approximately 2 million and is the largest recruiting centre to clinical trials in this sector.

This post is an additional post to cater for our growing patient population and fits into a well-established clinical oncology team at Charing Cross hospital. A key focus will be to manage the increasing demand for neuro-oncology from the supra-regional network, expected increased demand from the new targeted lung health checks and boost the departments research output.

The Clinical Oncology department at ICHT has 5 Truebeam linear accelerators, and can deliver IGRT, IMRT, VMAT and stereostatic services. Raystaton is our main planning system, but we also have access to eclipse. We are a regional provider of commissioned SRS services and brachytherapy. In-house Physics supports the radiotherapy service, with radiographer and nurse-led on treat clinics enhancing quality of care.

Main duties of the job

This 7PA post will:

Work collaboratively with the Lung and Neuro oncology teams to provide care to patients of Northwest London and wider networked units

support the delivery and management of the radiotherapy services offered to all Lung and Neuro patients

Work collaboratively, offering cross cover, recruitment to and assessment of trials, active metastatic disease & complex case discussion

Offer support and training to all non-consultant grade doctors within the unit.

To work collaboratively with all members of the Lung and Neuro MDT's to continue to provide outstanding clinical care and experience.

Expand the volume of SRS & SABR treatments

Boost the departments research output

Participate in the department's general on-call rota.
