Job summary
This exciting role offers the opportunity to work across Clinical Haematology services, collaborating closely with pharmacy colleagues and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care.
The post holder will provide leadership and line management to the Clinical Haematology Pharmacy Technician, supporting the development of the service and ensuring safe, effective use of medicines within the speciality.
You will also contribute to the continuous improvement of medicines optimisation and medicines safety across Clinical Haematology. Working alongside colleagues across the Trust, you will support and help deliver initiatives that enhance the quality, safety, and effectiveness of medicines use for our patients.
Main duties of the job
- To develop the Medicines Management Pharmacy Technician Service, Clinical Haematology working closely with the Senior Lead Haematology Pharmacist
- To lead and manage medicines management pharmacy technician(s) working within the Clinical Haematology team
- To ensure that all medicines management processes are followed by all staff and support the development of consistent medicines management practice across the Trust.
- To maintain and develop high quality, consistent, patient-focused pharmacy services in conjunction with clinical and patient services staff.
- To carry out the duties of an Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) in the dispensary and on wards as the service requires; exceeding minimum requirements required to maintain competence
- To adhere to and maintain quality standards and performance indicators for safe medicines use and medication safety initiatives.
- To participate in regular audits of the quality of medicines use and medication safety.
- To lead on the day to day management of homecare services and compassionate use schemes for clinical Haematology
- To provide a medicines management service to Clinical Haematology
