Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of the ERU Quality Management Systems team as a Local Decontamination Technician.
The main duties of the role will include monitoring compliance of local decontamination activities across the trust sites, developing a rapport with those teams undertaking local decontamination to develop action plans for compliance where required, providing data and metrics to inform senior management and arranging audit schedules; so great interpersonal skills, an eye for detail, good time management and insightful data presentation will be keys to success in this role.
You will already have experience as Decontamination Technician in an SSD or ERU setting and have a sound knowledge in decontamination, audit and/or testing regimes.
While predominantly based at CXH, you will be required to undertake work at both St Mary's Hospital and Hammersmith Hospital; shift patterns will be negotiated with your line manager but will comprise 37.5 hours Monday to Friday. Opportunities to work weekends as bank shifts may be available.
Main duties of the job
Supervises the operational aspects of people, processes and performance of the ERU Decontamination Service. Directs and participates in the daily planning, prioritization and processing of the work associated with their team/shift and organises all activities in order to achieve a cost effective, productive, high-quality service.
Ensure routine testing of decontamination equipment at the appropriate intervals to analyse and take appropriate action on any malfunction.
Line manages a team of Decontamination Technicians and Decontamination Porters
Key responsibilities
o To participate in the provision of a specialised decontamination of flexible endoscope service contributing to the clinical care of the patient.o To perform a full range of decontamination duties and be accountable for work area within department.o Manages Decontamination records in own area of work.o Interprets and reviews technical data and production reports.o Provide a high quality and timely service to all customers.o Supervises, organises and allocates work and /or train less experienced/qualified staff.
