Job summary
Are you experienced in clinical research with a background in surgical or cancer trials?
We have an exciting patient-facing opportunity for a highly-skilled, motivated nurse or life science graduate to join our well-established surgery and oncology clinical research team. The successful candidate will be helping to coordinate a portfolio of interventional and non-interventional clinical research studies, recruiting patients into studies and delivering data and admin support to the clinical studies and wider team.
You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills in order to support patients and work effectively with colleagues. You will be required to collaborate closely with leading investigators, research team members and the wider multidisciplinary team. You will be required to manage your own workload, so a proactive, flexible and mature approach is essential. The need for accurate records within clinical research is fundamental, so excellent documentation skills, a meticulous eye for detail and a good standard of IT skill is essential.
The post-holder will be part of a small and dynamic team, so must enjoy working independently as well as part of a team. Experience in surgical or oncology pathways is essential along with the ability to understand the complexities of clinical research, along with the ability to deliver excellent patient centred care.
Main duties of the job
- As a Clinical Research Practitioner / Nurse you will be responsible for assessing and managing the care pathways for patients and carers participating in research.
- This will involve the recruitment, education and monitoring of research participants and the collection and documentation of accurate data.
- You will work collaboratively with the research team and the wider multidisciplinary team in the management of your own caseload of research patients.
- You will act as a knowledgeable resource for staff, researchers, research participants and patients, alongside a working knowledge and compliance with local, national and international research regulations.
- You will contribute to the development of local policies related to all aspects of the research process and contribute to the training and supervision of staff and researchers.
