Job summary
We have three Assistant Research Practitioner posts available - two based at Hammersmith Hospital and one at Charing Cross Hospital, with some cross-site working expected.
This role is ideal for highly organised individuals with excellent communication skills and a positive attitude. While previous experience in a research environment is desirable, it is not essential if you can demonstrate a strong passion for clinical research.
Key aspects of the role include:
- Accurate data collection - requiring attention to detail and proficiency in a range of IT applications.
- Teamwork and independence - the ability to work collaboratively and manage tasks autonomously.
- Supporting clinical research delivery - contributing to the Trust and NIHR Clinical Research Network's mission to improve the speed, quality, and integration of research in the NHS.
- Day-to-day coordination - assisting with biological sample collection and processing, maintaining site files, and ensuring data compliance.
- Participant safety and compliance - ensuring all research adheres to ICH Good Clinical Practice and safeguards participant well-being.

Main duties of the job
- To support the research delivery teams in the facilitation of efficient, safe and participant focused research.
- To be willing to be trained and assessed in performing clinical examinations required of the protocol, such as vital signs, ECG's, phlebotomy and others.
- To support the delivery team in the preparation and participation of monitoring visits, ensuring both case report forms and patient notes are prepared in advance.
- To assist with the co-ordination of the patient's journey through the clinical trial protocol e.g. requisition and organisation of any necessary investigation.
- To support the delivery team in the processing of blood samples maintaining an awareness of the organisational policies and health and safety guidelines for working with hazardous substances.
- At all times to work with a high attention to detail and ensure study data is recorded clearly and accurately on paper and electronic data capture systems.
- To have a knowledge of medical terms and acronyms in order to ensure that you have an appreciation for clinical details within research.
