Job summary
This is a 10 PA post (8 DCC, 2 SPA) to support the foot and ankle surgical service within Orthopaedics. The post has a complex foot trauma and diabetic foot focus and will in addition provide support for the Major Trauma Centre.
The service is looking to appoint a substantive Consultant with a specialist interest in Foot and Ankle Surgery, to complement the current needs of the Orthopaedic service within ICHT. The post holder will also be expected to contribute to teaching and training within orthopaedic department.
Main duties of the job
This is a 10 PA post to support the Foot & Ankle surgical service within Orthopaedics. The service is looking to appoint a substantive Consultant with a specialist interest in Foot & Ankle surgery, which will complement the current needs of the Orthopaedic service within ICHT.
The post holder will also be expected to contribute to teaching and training within orthopaedic department. The postholder will partake in the on call rota which is a 1:12 frequency .

Provide high quality care to patients in Orthopaedics, Trauma and Major Trauma Surgery
The post holder must be medically qualified and maintain GMC specialist registration.
o To develop and maintain the competencies required to carry out the duties required of the post.
o To ensure prompt attendance at agreed direct clinical care Programmed Activities.
Research, teaching and training
o To provide high quality teaching to medical undergraduates and members of other health care professions as required by the Clinical Director/Chief of Service.
o To act as educational supervisor and appraiser as delegated by the Clinical Director/Head of Specialty to ensure external accreditation of training posts.
Leadership and team working
o To demonstrate excellent leadership skills with regard to individual performance, clinical teams, the Trust and when participating in national initiatives.
o To work collaboratively with all members of the multi-disciplinary team and Imperial College as required.
o To chair regular meetings for the specialties as required.
o To resolve conflict and difficult situations through negotiation and discussion, involving appropriate parties.
o Adhere to Trust/departmental guidelines on leave including reporting absence.
