Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced GPhC-registered pharmacy technician to co-ordinate the provision of inpatient, homecare, and outpatient prescription services to our neurology patients primarily based at Charing Cross Hospital.
Applicants will need excellent organisational & IT skills and be able to communicate effectively in English with patients, staff, and stakeholders.
The post-holder will be working closely with existing pharmacy teams, clinicians & clinical nurse specialists to ensure the safe delivery of medicines to patients both via homecare & through our outpatient pharmacy. They will primarily be responsible for the registration of new homecare patients, repeat prescription management, invoicing, and expenditure/usage reporting.
The post-holder will also participate in the delivery of medicines management services to our inpatient neurology wards.
Main duties of the job
- Day-to-day co-ordination of the provision of medication to neurology patients via homecare & outpatient prescriptions
- Entering information on to the pharmacy computer system and the accurate processing/issuing of homecare prescriptions
- Ensuring accurate invoicing to the Trust for homecare services & accurate billing to the commissioners for services provided, including the maintenance of prescription & invoice databases
- Provision of ward-based pharmacy technician services, including medicines management
- Assisting with audit work related to the provision of homecare and ward services
- Supporting patients with homecare-related queries
- Maintaining good communication with homecare companies, patients, other healthcare professionals, and stakeholders
