Job summary
We are looking for a Band 5 RN who will join our team to work in the Cardiac Cath Labs, Day Ward and Recovery, including night shifts in the Cardiac Day Ward.When you join our team, you will be based at Hammersmith Hospital, renowned for its strong research connections and being a regional specialist heart attack centre. This role will offer you the opportunity to upskill and specialise your nursing role in cardiac, giving you opportunities to grow and develop your career further!
The 6 cardiac cath labs in Hammersmith Hospital runs a service running Monday to Saturday, providing a variety of procedures from simple diagnostics and treatments i.e., coronary angiogram, angioplasty and device implants to more complex Interventional, EP and Structural procedures i.e., PCI of CTO, Ablations and Device Extractions, TAVIs, Mitral and Tricuspid Clips/TEER.
We aim to build a flexible workforce, where you will rotate between the cath lab, day ward, and recovery areas. You will be supported by dedicated mentors, a visible cath lab leadership team, and a clinical practice educator to help you achieve essential skills and competencies to ensure you succeed within your role. We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our growing nursing workforce due to service expansion. We are expanding into 6 cath labs, 8 day case beds, 6 radial chairs, and 4 recovery beds.
Main duties of the job
- To provide high quality compassionate intra-operative care to all patients undergoing minimally invasive cardiac diagnostics and interventional procedures, from admission to discharge.
- To be professionally accountable for own actions and to work within the guidelines, policies and procedures of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
- Provide support and individualised care to patients, relatives/carers in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, in line with local and national targets.
- At all times ensure that the needs of the patient are placed at the centre of care delivery.
- To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and provide cover for any area specified.
