Job summary
We currently have a vacancy for an experienced Band 6 Charge Nurse to work in our Acute Medical Assessment Unit at Charing Cross Hospital. We are seeking enthusiastic, experienced and motivated individuals who will work well within our established nursing team.
Applicants should have hold specialist clinical knowledge relative to this acute setting that they can demonstrate at interview.
The post holder will be expected to work with staff to maintain standards in line with Trust and NMC guidelines. You will, in all aspects, be supported by the Ward Manager and Lead Nurse in the department.
Main duties of the job
- Support the multidisciplinary team in the management and delivery of care and assessment of patients as appropriate.
- Deliver a high standard of care to patients undergoing investigations and treatments and the supervision of more junior nurses.
- Assist and advise junior registered and unregistered staff in the delivery of patient care.
- Act as a leader, role model, mentor and preceptor to your nursing team.
- Assist in the orientation of new staff and students.
- Ensure that nursing practices comply with Trust policies and procedures.
- Assess the needs of patients, relatives and carers and provide them with information as requested.
- Assist in the teaching and development of junior staff and students helping them to achieve their learning outcomes.
- Keep up to date with current developments in nursing and ensure evidence based practice.
- Develop new skills and knowledge pertaining to the specialty as advised by the senior management.
