Trainee Sonographer

Job summary

We are pleased to offer an exciting and unique opportunity for a healthcare professional to develop their career as a Sonographer.

We are looking for a dynamic, highly motivated individual to take on a fixed term training post with us, there are two opportunities available.One trainee will be based at St Mary's hospital, the second at Hammersmith hospital.

With the support of the local multidisciplinary ultrasound teams you will be fully supported to complete a postgraduate diploma over an 18-month period.

You will be enrolling on the King's college medical ultrasound programme from September 2025. Applicants should ensure they meet the minimum academic requirements of this programme, only those who do will be considered.

The ultrasound service across our trust is extensive and varied, you will initially be developing your general ultrasound skills in abdominal and pelvic imaging with the opportunity for specialist development in your second academic year. This will take place with the close mentorship of our expert sonographer team and world-renowned Consultant radiologists.

We have a very strong track record of employment for our trainees upon completion of their training. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced radiographer, allied health professional or other suitably qualified and motivated individuals to progress their career and develop new and highly valuable knowledge and skills in a supportive environment within North West London.

Main duties of the job

  • To assist in the provision of an efficient US service.
  • To work as part of a professional radiography team providing a high quality diagnostic service.
  • To maintain a sensitive and courteous approach to patients.
  • To develop and improve professional expertise via continuous professional development.
  • To maintain a safe working environment within the US department.
  • To complete clinical assessments and theory assessments in ultrasound in order to achieve the PG Diploma from the University.
  • To keep up to date with mandatory trainings.
