Job summary

Are you an experienced Research Nurse with a passion for Clinical Research and/or a background in surgical trials?

We have an exciting patient-facing opportunity for a highly skilled, motivated and enthusiastic Research Nurse to join our well-established clinical research team, based at St Mary's Hospital, part of the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be working on a portfolio of interventional and non-interventional clinical research studies, recruiting and supporting patients in surgical studies. Our surgical portfolio includes Upper GI, Urology, ENT, Breast, Orthopaedics, Bariatrics, Colorectal, Anaesthetics, and Plastics.

You will possess excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills in order to support patients and work effectively with colleagues while also raising the profile of research within the Trust. You will be required to collaborate closely with leading investigators, other research team members and the wider multidisciplinary team, to ensure the safety of patients throughout the trial. You will be required to manage your own workload. A proactive, flexible and solution orientated approach is essential.

The post-holder will be part of a small and dynamic team, so be competent to work independently as well as part of a team.

Main duties of the job

  • As a Band 5 Research Nurse you will be responsible for assessing and managing the care pathways for patients and carers participating in research.
  • This will involve the recruitment, education and monitoring of research participants and the collection and documentation of accurate data.
  • You will work collaboratively with the research team and the wider multidisciplinary team in the management of your own caseload of research patients.
  • You will act as a knowledgeable resource for staff, researchers, research participants and patients, alongside a working knowledge and compliance with local, national and international research regulations.
  • You will contribute to the development of local policies related to all aspects of the research process and contribute to the training and supervision of staff and researchers.
