Job summary
The post holder will be responsible for leading and managing the Advanced Kidney Care Nurse Specialsit Team. You will independently manage your own patient caseload, including all aspects of clinical care in relation to chronic kidney disease.
You will be responsible for leading a specialised service, esuring that patients with progressive chronic kidney disease receive the highest standard of care in preparation for renal replacement therapy or supportive care.
You will be a resource for patients and the clinical team being an expert in the specialty.
Main duties of the job
- Provision of specialist, high quality, expert nursing care and support for patients (and their carers) with progressive chronic kidney disease in liaison with the multidisciplinary team(s) and other health agencies.
- To act as a resource for patients and the clinical team by the provision of comprehensive advice, information, teaching and training with regard to chronic kidney disease both within ICHT and externally.
- To have active involvement in the development of the service locally and nationally implementing and adhering to guidelines such as Renal Medicine GIRFT and NICE NG107.
- To undertake, where appropriate, nursing research with published outcomes, and updating own knowledge to promote excellence in clinical practice, and the setting of quality standards within speciality.And contribute in audit processes. Formulate an annual report/clinical audit of own CNS service and outcomes.

- Minimum of first degree and post registration courses (CPD) relevant to clinical speciality
- Evidence of continuing personal and professional development
- Management or leadership qualification or equivalent experience.
