Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated and forward thinking Imaging Operational Lead Radiographer, to join the Modality Leads' team.

This post is at Charing Cross Hospital, which is a key leadership role and the successful candidate will be a role model for demonstrating our Trust's values through their leadership behaviors, working collaboratively across multi-disciplinary teams and be committed to providing high quality patient care.

We are looking for a dedicated & experienced Radiographer with proven team leadership and communication skills, to be responsible for the operational management of Imaging services ensuring optimum use of staffing and equipment resources throughout the department in conjunction with the team of Modality Leads.

As part of the first Academic Health Science Centre our aim is to provide world-class healthcare to our patients through excellence in research, education and training. Imperial College NHS Healthcare Trust comprises of five hospitals - Charing Cross, Queen Charlotte's and Chelsea, Hammersmith, St Mary's and the Western Eye.

Main duties of the job

  • The purpose of the Imaging Operational Lead Radiographer is to ensure the seamless and efficient delivery of high-quality Imaging services across all modalities.
  • This includes the comprehensive operational management of the department in collaboration with the Modality leads, focusing on optimising allocation and utilisation of both staffing and equipment resources to meet service demands effectively.
  • You will be actively contributing to the strategic management and development of specialist imaging services, working collaboratively with modality leads to enhance service provision and introduce innovative practices while ensuring efficient resource deployment.
  • Professional leadership of the radiography team. You will be responsible for fostering a supportive and high-performing environment, providing guidance, mentorship, and clear direction to radiographers at all levels of experience.
  • Furthermore, the role demands a steadfast commitment to patient well-being, requiring you to maintain a sensitive and courteous approach in all interactions and to champion a patient-centered ethos within the department.
  • Imaging operates across 4 sites, so the role requires effective collaboration and coordination amongst your peers and stakeholders at different locations to ensure equitable service delivery and resource management.

  • BSc(Hons) Radiography, DCR(D) Diploma of the College of Radiographers or Equivalent
  • Post graduate qualification in appropriate speciality or demonstrably working to an equivalent level of expertise (e.g. Nuclear Medicine/ Ultrasound)
  • Health Care Professions Council Registration
  • Evidence of CPD

Desirable

  • Post graduate study
  • Management qualification

Experience

Essential

  • Significant UK experience in specialty at Band 7 level
  • Substantial operational management experience
  • Track record of effective performance at senior level
  • Experience of training staff and students
