Job summary
We are pleased to advertise two Locum Consultant Anaesthetist posts based at Charing Cross Hospital. CXH is a specialist centre for neurosurgery, interventional radiology, head and neck cancer, benign airway service, major urology, general surgery and complex orthopaedics. These post-holders will join a supportive and positive department with an excellent reputation for clinical care and teaching. They will support out major cancer surgeries, including the pre-operative assessment service. There will be some opportunity to work on our day surgery unit as well.
They will be for an initial period of one year, with scope to extend.
Main duties of the job
These posts will be based in theatres with an emphasis on urology, general surgery and plastics. There will be some fixed flexible sessions and some annualised sessions, to allow flexibility for both the post-holder and the department. The holder of post 1 will join an on-call rota, post 2 contains no on-call commitment.
The post-holders will be expected to support the educational, research and governance activities of the department.

- Minimum 6 months experience in Anesthesia in the UK
- Fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists or equivalent.
- GMC specialist registration or within 6 months of being admitted to the GMC's specialist register

- Advanced Anaesthetic training in subspecialty areas relevant to job plan
- Able to take responsibility for clinical care of complicated patients for major surgery
- Training and or significant experience in the management of patients for emergency surgery in the sub-specialty areas undertaken by the Trust including Neurosurgery and ENT
