Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Estates Team, collaborating with senior managers to oversee the £20m+ backlog maintenance capital programme across all Trust sites.
- Contribute to both operational and corporate planning, including the Trust's annual and five-year rolling capital backlog investment plan, while aligning with a government new hospital programme spanning the next 10-15 years.
- Partner with Trust stakeholders to develop project schemes, manage procurement processes, supervise design teams, and ensure accountability for financial performance, timelines, quality, and business case development.
The Ideal Candidate: - Holds a higher-level qualification in Estates and/or Facilities Management.
- Demonstrates evidence of Continued Professional Development (CPD).
- Brings extensive experience in estates infrastructure leadership with a collaborative approach.

- Dealing with complicated NHS employment issues (disciplinary hearings, grievances, dismissals, redundancies, appeals), TUPE transfers, restructures, and organisational change.
- Developing tender bids, presentation, and mobilisation of capital backlog projects, demonstrating commercial acumen and experience of business and financial planning including analysis and cost profiling.
- Setting, managing and successfully delivering to forecast capital project budgets.
- Extensive experience of managing capital backlog maintenance contracts (auditing, monitoring, life cycle costing, payment mechanisms, variations etc.) in relation to SLA arrangements and all associated technical and commercial contracts.
- Successful track record of working in large and small high performing teams delivering challenging targets, KPIs and achieving results.
- Experience of inter-professional, inter-agency, and cross boundary working with external organisations including Department of Health, NHS Estates, NHS Property Services & Community Health Partnerships, City & County Councils, Greater East Midlands Commissioning Services Unit, NHS England, HSE etc.
- Knowledge and understanding of policy and thinking in the fields relevant to the post
