Job summary
Applications are invited from committed and enthusiastic doctors for a post as a senior clinical fellow (ST4 or equivalent and above) in Gynaecology Rapid Access at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. This post is at Hammersmith Hospital and Queen Charlotte's Hospital (though may involve some cross site working) for 12 months to cover maternity leave/vacancy with potential to extend this. This unit is a subspecialty tertiary centre which has a large catchment area and a high quality research profile. The post holder will be involved in the clinical aspects of the unit including clinics, investigations, treatments and surgical lists.
Candidates should have a demonstrable interest in Gynaecology Rapid Access (Oncology). The post is a fixed one year post available now or to start from new rotation in April 2025. The role was initially created to support the expansion of the Rapid Access clinics which now runs 4 days a week and provide an exciting opportunity for the post holder to gain an intense year of experience in Rapid Access and especially ultrasound scanning in gynaecology.
Imperial College has one of the largest Gynaecological oncology subspecialty units in the UK with tertiary and national referrals. The programme is well supported with multidisciplinary links to medical oncology and imaging services. There are strong academic and research ties with the Faculty of Medicine, Imperial College London.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will support the Rapid access and acute diagnostic services and the Early pregnancy and Acute Gynaecology service. They will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team undertaking care for women with acute diagnostic concerns. All aspects relating to the highest standards of care will the taught. The appointed doctor will continue on call cover for obstetrics and gynaecology out of hours (50% share of 1B banding).
A typical weekly timetable will be as follows with an out of hours commitment to general obstetrics & gynaecology which is 1B compliant (usually a 1:9 rota with a split week on call)
