We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Intensive Care Deputy Lead Nurse to join our Critical Care Service, which operates across three sites within the Organisation. Our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) provides a high standard of care to critically ill patients and offers a challenging yet rewarding environment for those who thrive in fast-paced, complex clinical settings.
As the Deputy Lead Nurse within our Intensive Care Service, you will work closely with the Lead Nurse to provide leadership and management across our three ICU sites. This key role offers the opportunity to influence and enhance the delivery of critical care, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and staff development.
You will be responsible for supporting the Lead Nurse in managing the day-to-day operations of the ICU service, maintaining clinical standards, ensuring compliance with Trust policies and procedures, and driving improvements in quality of care. You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, oversee staff training and development, and play a key role in clinical governance and service improvement initiatives.
Main duties of the job
- Support the Lead Nurse in the operational management of the ICU service across three hospital sites.
- Lead, manage, and support nursing staff, ensuring high-quality care is delivered in accordance with clinical guidelines and best practices.
- Provide clinical leadership and expert advice to staff, ensuring patient care is safe, compassionate, and person-centred.
- Support the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and the NHS Framework.
- Lead and contribute to the ongoing development of nursing staff, including mentorship, training, and performance reviews.
