Are you looking to develop your hand therapy skills? We are looking to recruit an innovative and enthusiastic physiotherapist or occupational therapy to join our hand therapy team for a 12 months fixed term contract.
Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is an Academic Health Science Centre (AHSC) and we have two clinical academics within the therapy team supporting improvement and research projects. St-Mary's is home to the North West London's Major Trauma Centre giving our team a unique experience treating complex major trauma patients and truly work in a multidisciplinary team.

The post is static and based at Charing Cross Hospital and St-Mary's Hospital. The post holder will carry a varied caseload of patients referred by trauma and orthopaedic, plastics and rheumatology. The successful applicant will be responsible for managing a largely outpatient caseload, but will also have responsibilities covering hand therapy inpatients on the wards.
Main duties of the job
- To provide high quality hand therapy management to patients at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
- To perform advanced physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions.
- To develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme.

Essential
- Degree (or equivalent) in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy
- State registration with the Health Professions Council
- Evidence of CPD through maintenance of a portfolio
- Demonstrate learning of personal effectiveness and first line leadership from experience and from both formal and informal CPD activity
Desirable
- Membership of the Chartered Society of Hand therapy or Royal College of Occupational Therpy
- Membership of the British Association of Hand Therapists
Experience
Essential
- Recent substantial and sustained experience in relevant hand therapy specialities and clinical settings
- Experience of working as part of a hand therapy and multidisciplinary team
- To have participated in service development projects
- Experience of clinical education of staff, students or assistants
- Experience of supervision of students/ hand therapy assistants, with development of basic supervision skills
- Experience of on-call and weekend working in an acute hospital
- To have undertaken audit and/or research, either within area of hand therapy speciality or as part of the MDT
