Job summary

We are seeking to recruit Clinical Research Fellows at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust Renal and Transplant Centre for posts becoming vacant in March 2025. The post is based at the Imperial College Renal and Transplant Centre at the Hammersmith Hospital, which is the largest renal and transplant centre in Europe. The post will be offered for a period of 2.5 years (30 months). The Fellowships have been designed to give 75% protected full-time research each year, within which candidates are generally expected to undertake a research MD. A number of research projects are available to choose from according to clinical interest, and the successful candidate should aim to register for an MD at the earliest opportunity. During the 25% clinical time, fellows will gain clinical exposure to all aspects of renal medicine and transplantation. Some candidates may progress into full time externally funded research posts to obtain PhDs.

Applicants are required to have full GMC registration with a license to practice and be MRCP (UK) qualified. For further requirements for the post, please read the Person Specification.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will have 75% of their time protected for research in order to undertake a higher degree (usually an MD Res). The 25% clinical work includes regular exposure to acute transplantation and glomerulonephritis. This includes inpatient work on a renal high dependency unit and 3 acute nephrology wards, and outpatient work covering specialist renal services located within Hammersmith Hospital, and general nephrology / low clearance services at satellite hospitals across North West London. The appointed fellow will have blocks of protected research time, with weeks of the 25% clinical time interspersed - this can be adjusted according to the fellow's needs.
