Job summary
Within the Skin Cancer CNS team, we are seeking an enthusiastic, forward thinking and motivated nurse to join this busy cross-site service. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to join the team and to gain expert experience and enhanced knowledge of Skin Cancer management in secondary care and develop key advanced CNS skills in an environment supported by experienced CNS' and MDT. This post will focus on both Melanoma and Non-Melanoma Skin Cancer patients through their cancer pathway. You will be expected to support nurse-led clinics and participate in audit, service development and improvement based on best practice models of care in response to patient feedback and audit findings.
You will have the ability to work autonomously while being supported by a team of experienced CNSs and MDT members delivering an exceptional standard of nursing care for patients and their families throughout the cancer pathway.You will have excellent opportunities to develop skills enabling you to practice at an advanced clinical level. You will play a vital role in ensuring the team complies with local and national policy, clinical governance and peer review.
You will work collaboratively with referring GPs and all members of the extended MDTs both internally and externally.
As a band 7 you will be expected to meet the essential criteria, possess the relevant post registration experience as outlined in the person specification attached.
Main duties of the job
- Provide specialist nursing advice, care and support to patients with, skin cancer and facilitate high quality, individualised care to patients/clients and relatives/carers, both inpatients and outpatients in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team and in line with local and national targets.
- At all times ensure that the needs of the patient are placed at the centre of care delivery. Where appropriate acting as a 'key worker'.
- Work to improve the patient experience throughout the patient journey.
- Deputise for their line manager in designated tasks relevant to the development of role/clinical speciality.
- Act as professional role model, providing direct and indirect clinical care, teaching and research.
