Job summary
The Major trauma ward is one of the four trauma centers in London. We are recruiting a Senior Trauma Staff Nurse for our team. We provide nursing care for all trauma patients in the North-West of London. The Major Trauma Ward is a 19 bedded ward delivering level 1 care to a complex group of poly-trauma patients including intracranial, spinal cord and column injuries, as well as cardiothoracic, vascular, orthopaedic, plastic, general surgery and maxillofacial injuries.
We are a busy and fast paced ward delivers expert care to patients with tracheostomies, chest drains, invasive analgesia and have five beds for patients requiring cardiac monitoring. Our daily multidisciplinary approach to patient care allows us to achieve the best outcomes for our patients, who may be facing life changing injuries as a result of trauma.
You will work as part of the trauma team supporting the division and manager to ensure an effective and high quality of care & service is delivered to every major trauma patient.

Main duties of the job
- You will be responsible for the assessment, planning and provision of trauma specialist nursing care and deputise for the ward matron in their absence. This will involve dealing with a wide range of clinical situations as an integral part of the ward team.
- The role is vital in monitoring and maintaining polices, standards of nursing care and staff development.
- You will take an active role in coordinating and facilitates the flow of patients through the trauma pathway to ensure gold standard nursing care was followed.
- The post holder will provide clinical supervision to staff on the ward and may undertake clinical audits; teaching sessions and ensure the safety and well- being of patients and staff.
