Job summary

Post-MRCS applicants with registrar level experience in trauma and orthopaedics from the UK and around the world are invited to apply to join the Trauma & Orthopaedic Department at St Mary's and Charing Cross Hospitals in the capacity of a Clinical Research Fellow Registrar. The fellowship is available from 02 October 2024 for 6 months.

The role has no on-call commitment.

The elective centre at Charing Cross has been designated a regional Major Revision Centre and handles all the elective practice of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. The Major Trauma Centre at St Mary's provides a huge opportunity to gain experience in the management of and surgery related to, high volume major trauma and polytrauma.

Main duties of the job

For 50% of the week, candidates will be expected to develop a research project and apply for funding under the supervision of a clinical academic orthopaedic surgeon. It is well recognised that many surgeons wish to pursue a higher degree and secure a grant for their research. This role will enable the successful candidate to develop their applications and research protocols with protected time and guidance, while continuing their clinical training and development.

The remaining 50% of their week will be clinical work including Orthopaedic clinics and operating lists.
