Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust for a role as a Band 4 Anatomical Pathology Technologist, with the opportunity to pursue the level 3 Anatomical Pathology Technologist course.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and reliable person with fantastic communication skills and a proactive approach to join our team in Mortuary Services.

The successful candidate will need to able to learn new skills and processes, experience in a mortuary/funeral home environment is preferred although not essential to the right candidate. The successful candidate will join the small but busy Mortuary Team.

Main duties of the job

The role is to provide a compassionate and customer focused high quality mortuary service in conformance with the relevant legislation, code of practice and guidance from local SOP's and the Human Tissue Authority.

The post-holder is responsible for assisting in the provision of the Mortuary Service Trust wide; there are three mortuaries within the Trust located at Charing Cross, Hammersmith and St Mary's Hospitals. Work in this area requires frequent exposure to highly distressing and emotive situations and in addition to periods of intense physical activity with the need to maintain concentration for long periods.

Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to organise and prioritise work is required.

There is the need to lone work and to also work well within a small team, sometimes under challenging circumstances, to ensure that the deceased and their relatives are treated at all times with dignity and respect.
