The Imperial paediatric & adolescent allergy service receives local, regional and national referrals and specialises in holistic care for children with severe multisystem allergic disease but also integrated allergy care provision across primary, secondary and tertiary care.The successful candidate will have their own specialist dietetic allergy caseload, which will include the running of a dietetic led food allergy clinic as well as providing dietetic support to the consultant and nurse led allergy clinics. You will also be reponsible for managing a small team of 3 dietitians and a dietetic assistant who has an active role in our oral food challenges service, preparing the foods for the oral food challenges.

You will provide expert dietetic advice and training on all aspects of food allergy and nutritional care to patients and carers as well as members of the Paediatric multidisciplinary team and the wider healthcare team.The post holder will be an integral part of the paediatric allergy multidisciplinary team leading the dietetic service.

Main duties of the job

The Paediatric Allergy service at Imperial is recognised as a WAO centre of Allergy excellence.

Clinically you will provide and lead a specialist dietetic service to paediatric allergy, leading on innovation and service developments. You will deliver a specialist dietetic led clinics and work closely with the MDT to support optimum patient management.

Multidisciplinary clinics include complex allergy clinics, GI Allergy clinics, Adolescent/transition clinics, consultant and nurse led allergy clinics and a feeding/psychology clinic service.You will lead on audit and research with the MDT and offer teaching regionally and nationally on developments within the specialism.

You will manage and provide clinical leadership to a small team of specialist staff and to work closely with the Clinical service lead for paediatric Dietetics to ensure a high quality evidence based Dietetic service across the Trust.

Sound leadership and development skills will be a needed in order to deliver this role. You will be encouraged to actively particiapte in paediatric & adolescent allergy multidisciplinary team meetings.   • Health & Care Professions Council registration
  • Evidence of structured training on appraisal and supervisory skills
  • Evidence of postgraduate training in basic research skills e.g literature reviews, critical appraisal.

Desirable

  • Masters or PhD degree in relevant subject
  • Membership of relevant professional groups relevant Specialist interest group

Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrate evidence of learning from experience and having undertaken formal and informal CPD, both general and specific to clinical field/ speciality
  • Experience of supervising qualified therapy staff and students
  • Experience of incident investigation and implementation of change of practice as a result

Desirable

  • Clinical leadership of other disciplines
  • Experience at band 8a level
