Job summary

The Directorate of Specialist Surgery is seeking a talented individual with multiple skills and an appetite for delivering a first class nursing service to join our team on the Charing Cross Hospital Site. The successful candidate will lead nursing and drive the quality and safety agendas on the ward, which is home to our multi-specialty elective surgical hub. This is a key nursing role carrying a high level of responsibility and workload, but comes with great opportunity. You will need experience of working at managerial level with demonstrable outcomes in advancing surgical nursing practice and in improving patient experience and patient care. A strong understanding of quality and safety in healthcare is essential. Included in the portfolio is a responsibility to provide senior quality and safety oversight to our Breast and Audiology services.

Great matrons have a strong sense of ownership of their wards and love to be in charge. They're honest and straight forward and they excel to high standards. They thrive on the busy nature of the role, they love being on top of things, they have passion and drive and keep going when things are tough. The job isn't for everyone but for those who have the right strengths and motivators it's energizing, rewarding and they love it.

Is providing excellent nursing care and getting the basics right one of your key drivers? Do you love developing others to become excellent at what they do? Is making a difference and doing the right thing fundamental to you? If your answer to these questions is yes, this role may be right for you.

This role will be pivotal to the introduction of further quality initiatives in our surgical services, and the post holder will be working closely with the multidisciplinary teams, non-clinical staff, our team of CNS's, the Lead Nurse and General Manager to support innovation and quality in nursing care and patient pathways across the specialty. You will be one of four directorate matrons working collaboratively with the Lead Nurse to showcase the surgical nursing strategy here at Charing Cross Hospital.
